Course Structure
Everything in this section is tentative! Please update it as we gain clearer information on the structure of the course. It also applies primarily to online students, although information may also be useful to in-person students.
- There are two textbooks in use:[1]
- The "primary" textbook refers to Silberschatz et al., Operating System Concepts (10th ed.) In-person students do not require a copy of the zyBooks version of the textbook, but in-person students do. The text is available via the Internet Archive.
- The "secondary" textbook refers to Arpaci-Dusseau et al., Operating Systems: Three Easy Pieces (v1.00) which is available free of cost from its authors online here.
- The Ed Discussion board is shared between both online and in-person sections.[2]
- The only assignments that have strict due dates are the projects. All other work has a recommended pacing of approximately one module per week.[3]
