Instead, logged-out editors will be given automatically generated usernames linked to <strong>[https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Help:Temporary_accounts temporary accounts]</strong>, and their IP addresses will only be visible to trusted community members who need to see them to deal with vandalism and abusive behavior. When a temporary account is created for a logged-out editor, a cookie will be set in that editor’s browser. That temporary account will then be attributed to all subsequent edits, even if the IP address of that editor changes. |
